What Can You Do?

It's my favorite time of the year! (Besides my birthday of course) The holidays are here once again! This time of year is so special to me for the sole fact that it brings family together. Family means everything to me, so every year I do the best I can to help other families. Everyone out there who knows that they are more fortunate than others has a human obligation to help out especially during this time of year. I wanted to extend my blog out to those of you in the CENTRAL NEW JERSEY area. I've been wanting to volunteer at Elijah's Promise for a while now. Elijah's Promise is an organization based in New Brunswick, NJ that offers several programs - Soup Kitchen, Culinary School, Social Serives, and Catering. This is an amazing organization dedicated to helping others and eliminating hunger. It doesn't matter what your roots are or where you're at in your life now, we all have an obligation to take care of each other. So I'm asking my readers to offer themselves to a cause or volunteer at a place that helps others. There are many people that need our help and that are not as lucky as we are. We must understand this and do something about it. Contact me at ROXADEVA@GMAIL.COM for more information about this Elijah's Promise organization or if you need help finding a different one. Thanks to all who show love!

Love & Halloween

During these past couple of days, the importance of Love and Life have become even more significant than ever before. When was the last time you took a moment to breath in, and absorb everything around you. Absorb the room your in, the situations your involved in, your current state of emotion, and the stressors. I've had the opportunity to connect with the best of my friends this weekend and we all had to just take a moment to appreciate each other, and to recognize that these are the people that we are going to grow old with. These are the people that are going to have kids that your kids will play with. We as human beings have an obligation to each other, to be there for each other and to help each other.

A friend of mine's father past away a couple days ago, and it couldn't have shocked us more. Prior to this my Grandpa went back to the Philippines again, and it was so sad to see him say goodbye to my son. Nothing but tears. I've been terrified of losing my grandparents, and with everything thats going on it makes me even more scared. We have to remember that the words that we say to someone could ultimately be the last words you ever say to them ever again.

What I want from my readers is to take a minute to appreciate. Appreciate that every single thing in life happens for a reason. We may not be able to completely control our destiny, but we do have a power that is beyond explaination. This power is only seen by a handful of people but is accessible to everyone. Take a look at your life and ask why things happen the way they do. Why are you where you are now?

Here are some shots of Love. These aren't taken personally by me but they gave me that little happy feeling which I hope to pass to you.

HALLOWEEN
I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween! I know I did! Here a few shots of me, my son, and my friends. These were taken from a friends camera.

(Friday 10/29/10) This is at Rutgers where we watched my friend Reggie and his acapella group OrphanSporks perform. AMAZING.

(Saturday 10/30/10) Day 2 of the fun festivities. Princess Peach is so much prettier in person!
