Today's How To: How to make a floral dress... not so floral

I don't know about any of you, but sometimes the site of a brightly colored floral dress kind of makes me blind just a little bit. This week, I'll show you how to do up your disgustingly girly girly dress and make it into and edgy/urban outfit suitable for nights out on the town or casual meetings during the day that will set you apart from every other girl in a pretty flowery dress. Since forever21 has almost every basic need for a princess such as yourself I'll use their pieces for examples.

First, choose your type of floral/summery dress you'd like to wear. I choose this one:

Floral Daze Silk Dress

This dress although bright as hell, has an amazing A line to it which already sets it apart from the strapped dresses.

Second, depending on the weather, I'd go with a light leather jacket, blazer, or vest to go on top. I choose these:

Denim Naval Blazer

Cozy Faux Leather Jacket

Satin Grosgrain Belted Vest (use without belt)

Third, pick out a pair of dark colored heels preferably black or dark blue OR neutral works too. I choose any of these:

Wedge Platform

Natalia Peeptoe Pumps

Workman Peeptoe Bootie

Mistress Buckled Stiletto Heels

Opened Toe Oxford Heels

Fourth, ice the cake off with some BLING! Bangles/rings can definitely accent the entire outfit whereas a heavy necklace and crazy earrings makes it too busy and cluttered. When wearing a busy dress choose a simple necklace to enhance the look.

When wearing an ensemble like this during the day, neutral colored makeup adds a sophistication to the look as a whole as well as wearing your hair up in a bun or a ponytail. For nighttime use, keep the neutral makeup except rock it with a pink or red lip and wear your hair down. Put your outfits together and show me how you made this look your own! Can't wait to see what you've got!
